We ordered via Uber Eats so this review is only for the to go food we ordered. We ordered the black vinegar spareribs, yang chow fried rice and the dry fried green beans with minced pork. All the food was great and we were pleasantly surprised at how good it was as we felt like we were taking a risk based on the 3 star review average.
The fried rice was not oily and flavored nicely. The spareribs were also very good and the green beans were not oily and cooked to the right doneness. Nothing was overly salty, which is all too common. The portion size was also great. -

Vegetable noodle soup - We asked them to substitute the egg noodles with the rice noodles. They indicated thus change on the receipt, but they didn't make the change. This is not right. What if people are allergic to eggs? We also requested them to take out the green onions. They indicated that on the receipt as well, but they failed to execute that either.
Hot and sour soup - There is not much substance in the soup, and it is too spicy. The spiciness overpowered the sourness of the soup.
The cuttlefish balls are fine, the fried wontons are substantial, and the fried tofu tastes okay with the seasoning.
For the corn and mixed vegetables congee, I expected actual green vegetables with pieces of mushrooms and corn which is what I had elsewhere with a cheaper price. However, they just put peas and carrots with corn and pieces of green vegetables in the congee. This is disappointing. Also, the mushroom and chicken congee is watery. Though they had taken out the green onion for both congee and the congee had no msg.
In addition, it was weird that they just gave us one spoon for two bowls of congee and one bowl of soup, while giving us three pairs of chopsticks and two forks which were unnecessary.
The people there seemed nice but they were very careless about customer's requests, and their quality of food is not worth the price. -

Brand New Location!
Neptune's latest addition to the West End, this Chinese eatery has a wide variety of items; Dim Sum, Noodle Soups, BBQs, Stir-fry etc.
Stopped by just to try out a few items and I have to say its a great addition to the West End to elevate the presence of more authentic Chinese food.
Soya Sauce Chicken with Noodles in Soup was prepared well, chicken is tender and absorbed enough soya sauce.
Octopus Balls and with Noodles in Soup garnished with wakame, the Octopus Balls were house made and is one of the best available in town, full of natural sweetness and the texture was perfect.
Mix Mushroom Dumplings, the mushroom fillings offered a rich earthy flavour, the wrapping can be a bit thinner, which will make the dumplings less heavy, but overall still above average standards.
The interior decor and service were also above average.
Great addition of this restaurant to the food scene on Davie St.!! -

Finally, a spot on Davie Street that does lunch hour Dim Sum!
I've had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant twice since they opened, once as a table of six and the other as a table of four. The service is friendly enough and the kitchen gets the food out quickly and piping hot.
All of the dumplings here are terrific. I especially enjoy the Mushroom & Truffle, very nice to see a quality vegetarian dumpling on their menu. I often times judge establishments like this on two menu items: Salt and Pepper Squid and Wok Fry Green Beans. Both of these dishes are done perfectly, although only the Squid is on the Dim Sum menu....you have to pay more for the Green Beans. The menu has a TON of Congee on it, if that is your thing, it is however not mine. The House Special Chow Mein was a hit with both groups that I ate with. Basically, everything I've eaten so far is fresh, not heavy and tasty AF.
Washrooms are clean. A variety of table sizes are available for small or large groups. TVs on the walls also have menu item food photos.
My only real compliant is that the menu (useful to see pictures of the dishes) has a number for ordering each dish but the Dim Sum order checklist has no numerical system. It takes a little bit of time to correlate but i'm basically a pro after the two visits! -

I went to this place for lunch with my friend on a Sunday afternoon. On that day, we ordered the Chili Meat Dumpling, Szechuan Eggplant Hot Pot and Satay Beef with Chinese Broccoli. Overall the dishes tasted good, simple Chinese food on Davie Street. I like the Eggplant Hot Pot. The dish was spicy and sweet and it was a great pair with Jasmine rice. I have a great lunch experience and definitely ready to have a second seating at this place.
